fridge and freezer essentials

Just past half way through the week my fridge looks a little bare but I know we are sticking to our weekly shopping plan and not much food is getting wasted.

fridge essentials
Milk - I cannot do without a cuppa in the morning, there always has to be milk if nothing else
butter/margarine
eggs - always good for sandwiches, throwing into salads, a quick omelette, cakes, poached egg
garlic - seems to last longer in the fridge
cheese - bit of chedder, bit of leerdammer
tom ketchup/mayonaisse/brown sauce
wholegrain mustard - on top of salmon, on sandwiches, in meals
onions
carrots
philadelphia cheese - this has become a real essential at the moment
bottle of concentrated fruit juice

oh, and pear cider (very lovely)

freezer essentials
freezer blocks for cooler bag (keeps sandwiches fresh)
garlic bread
broccoli
peas
yorkshire puddings
veggie bacon
quorn mince
chicken breast
piece of beef
french fries (not filling, not the healthiest but sometimes I need a little something more with pizza and salad)
shortcrust pastry - for pies (i'm not into making my own pastry)
fruit and icecream
ice cubes

The things that get most used from the fridge are the garlic bread and veg.

I've seen some freezers packed with ready meals but I really don't think they taste that good.  I do try a ready meal occasionally as something will catch my eye on the supermarket shelf but I'd much prefer to cook some easy meals.

You could try freezing milk and bread, always handy when you run out late at night.
